Michelle Bailey is a dynamic and accomplished marketing professional with a proven track record of demonstrated success. While at BET Networks (BETN), Michelle served as Senior Vice-President in the Media Sales and Marketing departments. And her stellar performance was inherent to the Top 20 Cable Network’s year over year ratings and revenue growth. Michelle led the team that developed key data-driven insights and recommendations formulated to guide favorable programming, scheduling and marketing decisions. She also was responsible for forecasting/modeling initiatives that drove the optimization of pricing/planning and revenue. Michelle developed the overall network positioning strategy across corporate divisions including Public Relations and Media Sales that showcased the brand not only as Cable’s AA leader, but also as a viable general market contender in the marketplace. 

Michelle also served on the executive team that created BETN’s Market Research department, known then as a center of excellence within the organization during her tenure. Within this role she oversaw market research, brand and pilot testing along with all Nielsen reporting. Michelle’s contributions were integral to creating some of the largest groundbreaking franchises in cable TV history including The BET Awards – Cable’s #1 Telecast among AAs; The Game – The #1 Original Sitcom in Cable TV History (7.7MM); Celebration of Gospel – The #1 Inspirational AA Program on Cable.

Michelle’s high standard of achievement is evidenced both professionally and civically. Most recently she was lauded by non-profit Dress for Success-d with the inaugural Ally Award for her commitment to service. She is also the recipient of the National Alumnae Achievement Award, one of the highest honors bestowed upon a Spelman College woman for career and community service achievement. Other awards include The Triumph Award (Spelman College), Luminary Award (NAMIC), Excellence in Event Management (NAMIC-Mid Atlantic), Media Sales Team Appreciation Award (BETN), Media Sales Team Most Pleasing Attitude (BETN), Marketing Team Accountability Award (BETN), and the Eastern Area PR Award (The Links). 

Michelle firmly believes in “lifting as she climbs.” She is an active leader, member  and valuable contributor to a host of organizations that are aligned with her passion and values including: She is serving her second appointed term as Public Relations Chair for The Links, Incorporated. Other affiliations include: Arlington (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, DMV Links Red Dress Chair/Co-Chair (2018-2021); Greater Washington Gift of Adoption (Board Member), NAMIC, Women in Cable Television (WICT), the National Black MBA Association (Life Member); Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Xi Zeta Omega Chapter); the Spelman College Alumnae Association (DC Chapter); the National Congress of Black Women; the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute (BMLI); and the INROADS Alumni Association.

Michelle is a native of Nashville, TN and currently resides in Washington, DC. She holds a BA in Economics with a Marketing concentration from Spelman College and she attended Babson College (Wellesley, MA) as a Domestic Exchange Student fall semester of her junior year. Michelle received her MBA in Marketing from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) where she was a recipient of the McCabe fellowship. She also received a Certificate of Completion in Entertainment Management from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
