Shemika Harmitt joined the JOY PR team in 2019 and currently handles national and digital media outreach for various clients. She spearheaded the PR efforts for JOY’s “Tribute to Our Sheroes“ campaign by AARP and Ad Council and oversees our communications efforts with celebrity trainer Robert Brace. Shemika has 9 years of experience planning and executing PR strategies, writing press releases, pursuing stories and write ups, introducing brands to influencers and coordinating events across the country. She has a true passion for beauty and building a buzz around new and innovative projects.
Shemika is an accomplished publicist that has worked with both large corporate brands and indie brands, such as Comcast, Maybelline, BET Networks, Farmhouse Fresh, Soothe and her own indie brand, Prime Beauty Cosmetics, which she launched in 2018. The media relationships she has fostered over the years has led to many digital and print placements in national outlets like ESSENCE, Allure, Marie Claire, WWD and Vogue.com, just to name a few.
Shemika has contributed to the success of numerous high-profile red-carpet events including, the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards and Urban One Honors. She has coordinated several brand launch events, including The Beauty Crop, Klorane and Glytone, hosting top tier media and influencers.
Shemika is a proud New Jersey native and graduate of City College of New York.
